Do you aspire to run fashion photography that addresses ethical issues in glamour and celebrity culture?

Centre for Media and Celebrity (CMCS) seeks creative and innovative photographers to execute photography on ethical glamour and fashion. We are particularly looking for established or emerging fashion photographers to play a role in redefining and representing meanings of celebrity culture for our upcoming photography projects and media events in New York City. An interest in fashion studies and fashion films will be highly valued. This freelance position will lead to long-term contracts, partnerships, and higher funds to effectively represent brand values and causes we advocate.

The ideal Photographer will be considered as a Photography Partner to plan and collaborate on creating still and moving images for our growing community, campaigns, events, and media productions. He / she will be interested in working as an active part of a creative community executing casting and production of photography projects and will work with internal and external clients to support business needs and cross-functional initiatives. The successful Photographer will work closely with the rest of the team on in-house shoots, including still life, on-figure, and editorial.

Responsibilities:

  • 2+ years of on-figure fashion photography experience
  • 2+ experience of working in a studio space
  • Strong editorial and lifestyle photography portfolio that demonstrates expertise in applied techniques and strong knowledge of lighting, composition, color quality, and aesthetic spaces
  • Ability to feature and uniqueness of individual personalities and spaces
  • Ensure consistent high level of technical quality and aesthetics for all photography created and distributed by the studio
  • Handle a high-volume studio workflow and execute both on-model and still-life imagery under tight deadlines
  • Understand schedules in order to help prioritize workflow
  • Maintain and organize photo equipment and cleanliness of the studio
  • Shoot marketing and social media projects as needed
  • Open, understanding and calm under pressure, and can excel and thrive in a high-volume studio environment
  • Ability to be resourceful and respond to production and business needs quickly
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and business negotiation skills
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and schedule work assignments and project calendars

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • 2+ years’ experience in photo shoot production & casting, ideally within the Fashion industry
  • Industry knowledge and partnerships with photographers and casting agents/modeling agencies
  • Liaising with photographer agents, model agents, crew talent, and internal teams to produce and manage productions.
  • Engage with, and direct, modeling talent to accomplish targeted aesthetic
  • Creation and management of shoot budgets, call sheets, contractor agreements, and editorial shoot calendars.
  • Follow budgets and financial spend tracking in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining strong cross-functional partnerships with finance, fashion, marketing, and creative departments.
  • Minimum 2-year college degree in related field
  • 2+ years in related field with business experience
  • Basic / Intermediate videography skills are an asset.
